The biggest Newspaper in Germany, “Bild”, from the Axel Springer Verlag, Germanys biggest Publishing House, claims to know that Dust 514 is scheduled to release 2010, and also claims to know there will be a single player campaign.

The screenshot below is from one of the videos which shows what loots like a fitting screen for vehicles in Dust 514 which is similar to the Eve Online fitting screens. Nothing has been covered about this so i will keep my eyes and ears open for more information.

Interview with CCP CEO about Dust 514 by gamona.de

The video you see above (courtesy of golem.de) was Eve Online developer CCP’s way of introducing its forthcoming FPS/RTS game DUST 514 at GDC Europe this week.

The games has been in development at its Shanghai studio for the past three years and is going to appear on consoles. This is no ordinary FPS game, however, and will incorporate elements of real-time strategy and is set in the Eve Online universe. Although there are very few specific details CCP said that the game will interact with its existing Eve Online MMO.

The press release said:

The primary gameplay of DUST 514 features brutal ground combat that takes place on the surface of planets from EVE, delivering the visceral, adrenaline-fueled experience of futuristic firefights. Developed for the current generation of consoles, DUST 514 combines equal parts battlefield reflexes and strategic planning, giving commanders and ground infantry real-time configurable weapons and modular vehicles to manage dynamic battlefield conditions.

DUST 514, featuring first-person shooter and RTS-style gameplay, will interact directly with EVE Online, CCP’s critically acclaimed flagship MMO. This interplay between the two games opens the EVE universe to console gamers and gives them a chance to become part of one of the most massive cooperative play and social experiences ever.

During the video it is explained that playing DUST will have a direct influence on planetary control within Eve. So if you and your friends go and fight and win on a planet in the FPS you will be able to more easily take control of that planet within the MMO forming a clear link between the games.

A lot more detail about the game is expected to be forthcoming at the October 1st Fanfest. But for now just enjoy the video.
